With so many middle American families being two income a portable changing table makes sense. It can be transported anywhere and should be lightweight, sturdy, and easily cleaned.

The popular portable baby changing table isn’t always what you might expect. One might expect a lightweight traditional changing table surface that folds away neatly and weighs very little. Those portable changing tables are available, but there is a new type as well. They are more changing areas without the table. Any flat space can become a portable changing table with a portable diaper changing station. They are often foam or plastic, soft (yet not too soft), and easily cleaned. These portable changing tables will have a baby restraint strap for safety and weigh very little.

On the negative side of the coin a portable baby changing table is rarely expected to be used beyond the diaper age of a single child.  However, they also do not carry the price tag that a changing table meant to last years will either. They are economical portable changing areas meant for life on the go.

These lightweight units, both the traditional lightweight portable baby changing table and the newer style diaper station area,  are superb for both travel or use at the sitter’s while mom and dad are at work.

A portable changing table doesn’t have to be unattractive either. Though these are strictly utilitarian pieces with some extras left out in favor of portability, the new diaper changing areas and the lightweight portable changing tables are pleasing to look at and engineered for comfort.

For the family constantly on the go or the two parent working family the investment in a portable changing table can be well worth it in terms of transportability, convenience, and hygiene.
